The two are attracted to each other but she is convinced that their diverse backgrounds mean it could never work because of her family's disapproval and the fact that he is a gentile son of a protestant minister. Although they keep running into each other in the small community, they find themselves parting as frequently as they find each other.
Every Time We Say Goodbye is the remarkable story of a forbidden love, religious /cultural differences, and the sacrifices that are made in the face of human prejudice.

I love to watch romantic movies. My favorite romantic movie is Titanic,The Last Song and some others.

RNSANE June 27, 2010

I have seen a great number of the movies on your list,SM, except, perhaps some of the really old ones - but even a few of those. Reading the plots brought back many memories for me - who and where I was with when I saw them. I notice you didn't have any Indian films in there!! Are you doing a separate list of those? I'd like to see that since I regularly order Indian films from Netflix and have seen very many that I like.

I'll have to check out the ones I haven't seen yet and, perhaps, have a second go round with some of them.

Thanks for this wonderful list!

Now, unless you've reached the age of 65 like me, when have you possibly had time to see all these films, especially when you're doing kindnesses for far away bloggers like me!!!

few people say that a walk to remember movie is copied from Hindi movie Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se
but i do not feel so.
Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se is a 1978 Hindi movie is based on Erich Segal’s popular romantic novel Love Story.

Lilja 4ever? Really?! The saddest, most true-to-life movie about the sex slave trade ever made? Seriously? Wow.

Renu December 01, 2010

Nice list.few I have seen, re4st I have made a note to myself to watch:).why dont you make such lists for Hindi movies?

sm,  December 01, 2010

Renu,,
thanks.
Regarding Hindi movies i am working on that.

larpman December 13, 2010

Going through I have seen all but eight. However I did see 4 original version of remakes listed (Sweet November is not identified as a remake).

Like others there are movies on the list I disagree with.
Some others that come to mind are
Wings of the Dove (1997)
Miracle in the Rain (1956)
Cinema Paradiso (1988)
Jerry McGuire (1996)
Enamorada (1946)
Romeo and Juliet (1968) many other versions
Three Coins in the Fountain (1954)
The Way We Were (1973)
The Apartment (1960)
Shakespeare In Love (1998)
Summertime (1955)

This list is dubious at best. Bicentennial Man was a marginal movie at best, let alone the #4 most romantic movie of all time. What was really romantic about Mrs. Doubtfire or Hannah Montana the Movie.

Agree with most of these, but need to have Serendipity on there, as well as Murphy's Romance, A Lot Like Love, The Lakehouse, and The Time Traveler's Wife.

Anonymous,  February 14, 2011

I don't think the person who wrote this actually saw these movie otherwise Lilja 4-Ever would not be on the list. It is one of the most horrifying and brutally depressing movies ever made. I can't fathom how a movie about forced prostitution is in any way romantic. This was the only movie I've ever seen that made me cry and it was most certainly not because it was so romantic. Someone else pointed this out in another comment.

"Lilja 4ever? Really?! The saddest, most true-to-life movie about the sex slave trade ever made? Seriously? Wow."

sm,  February 15, 2011

Lilja 4ever,,
is true to life movie.
The movie romances with the life, dreams, aspirations of young a boy and young girl.
this is not typical romantic story.
If possible and time permits i will write a review on this movie. Already lot of articles are pending.

Deea February 26, 2011

I just finished watching the entire list today..most of them I've seen long ago, but there were many that I saw this week, trying to complete the list.
Thank u for posting this list!
Also, if you are as good as choosing romance movies as you are with other types, like comedy and horrors, would you mind posting a list sometime, pretty please?

I have to say, Lilja 4 Ever is NOT romantic. It's one of the most depressing movies ever. I think you should AT LEAST mention how she is a victim of human trafficking and how she and her friend kill themselves.
